With gambling over the Internet a primary subject in the congressional halls of the US government, the issue finds its way into headlines and newspapers everywhere. Party Gaming, a leading gambling group online, experienced a late flurry of buying on an apparent procedural setback in the US Congress over America’s anti-gambling legislation. It seemed that legislators are interested in not holding up the progress of the politically sensitive Homeland Security Bill, pushing back their need to decide on whether or not to legalize gambling online.
Bill Frist, the Senate majority leader, has been seeking to attach the anti-gambling measure to one of two ‘must-pass’ gambling related Bills before Congress closes this weekend ahead of November’s mid-term elections. However, it was set to be pushed through yesterday without the gambling curbs attached. Those representatives who wish to pass an anti-gambling bill are losing their patience and fighting harder than ever to have them approved.
As the world and, especially Americans, looks on, the gambling issue will continue to be debated in the US Congress until a final decision is made. And even then, after the bill would be passed it could always be vetoed, or one day, simply changed. Gambling fans within the US, in the meantime, will have to find ways to play at online casinos without facing prosecution. There is no other option at the moment, and the future of gambling within US borders is still unclear.
